Turtle Creek

Earth Day, 2008 at the Birmingham Zoo was crazy, crazy. We heard the announcement on the radio that there
was no admission fee, so we decided to take the kids. Unfortunately, so did a majority of the citizens of the 4-5
surrounding counties! Every sidewalk was packed all the way across and so tight that you could only shuffle your feet.
People pushed and shoved and ignored wheelchairs and baby strollers in the doorways.
The line for every exhibit was long and hot.

Despite everything, there were a couple of bright spots in the day, including this beautiful
Red Eared Slider Turtle from the Alabama River exhibit.
