Lookout Mountain, in Northeast Alabama hides many natural wonders. There's caves to explore and campgrounds to visit.
There's Little River Canyon national reserve, which is one of the world's longest mountaintop rivers and
104 foot high Desoto Falls, which lies on the west fork of the Little River. In the 1920s North Alabama's first hydro-electric dam was built
above the falls, which supplied power to nearby Fort Payne, Mentone, Valleyhead, Collinsville and Menlo, Georgia.

This picture was begun in the late mountain spring, after a heavy rain. If you look closely you can see the blooming pink dogwood on the rim.
